Electronic lockers can be useful in many workplaces because they give employees a place where they can store their personal belongings during their work shifts. However, a worker may forget to carry a lock, which can make it difficult to protect items. Using barcode systems with workplace electronic lockers can help to secure employees' belongings, and can increase efficiency for employers.
An employer can give workers identification cards that can serve multiple purposes. These IDs can allow an employee to access an assigned locker, and can also be used to monitor workers' timesheets.
For example, convenience store employees may use lockers located in the back room of a shop, and these storage units could require barcode identification to access. An ID provides workers with the opportunity to store their goods safely and securely through an inventory tracking system.
In addition, employers can use these same cards to monitor timesheets. Placing a versatile barcode scanner such as the Symbol LS 4208 at the front of the store allows employees to have their IDs read when they start and finish their work shifts.
