Top 2D Barcode Scanners

I am certain that you have already found several kinds of scanners. They all scan various stuff and products. They may scan even humans. Barcodes are symbols used to identify someone or something. To decode codes, we must use scanners for barcodes. When buying a scanner, it is important to know which type of barcode you are going to scan.

You might have observed that most barcode you see on any product are vertical lines. Those codes that resemble vertical lines are what we call one-dimensional barcodes is the most commonly used scanners. 2D barcode scanners on the other hand are slowly getting popular and being used especially by larger companies.

Barcode scanners seen in department stores, libraries and small stores use the most common scanner that is the one-dimensional barcode scanner. It scans barcode with vertical lines which is also the most known barcode. These vertical lines get wider as information gets bigger. Have you seen chessboard-looking code images? One-dimensional barcode scanners will not be able to read two-dimensional images. We can only read two-dimensional type of codes if we use two-dimensional scanners.

2D barcode scanners use two different technologies to be able to scan two-dimensional barcodes. It uses imaging technology and CCD. The CCD uses sensors to detect light reflexes to decode these codes while imaging takes a photo of it.

There are so many forms of 2D scanners and just like 1D scanners, it can be held, placed on a desk or mounted on a wall depending on what would fit your company most. It is usually a plug and play device. You can simple attach it on a computer via USB port.

2D barcodes have many benefits. It is usually used when companies would like to store bigger data. It can also read many other types of barcodes probably including one-dimensional codes depending on the scanner used. It can also scan broken codes efficiently.
