Statistics of 2D barcode usage for advertising « Codez QR

Nobody in their right mind would dispute the claim that usage of 2D barcodes are on the rise. How rapid that rise has been can really open some eyes when some hard statistical evidence is added into the mix.

In January of 2011, print advertisements containing any type of 2D barcodes made up less than one percent of all print ads. By May of that same year, that number was up to three percent. By September, more than six percent of ads contained a 2D barcode.

Of all 2D barcodes used in print advertising in 2011, just under 88 percent of them were QR codes, a staggering stranglehold on the share of the 2D barcode advertising market.

Retail and technology businesses made up more than 35 percent of the of the types of businesses utilizing 2D barcodes.

In total, four percent of all print advertisements in 2011 contained a 2D barcode. That growth is due largely in part to it serving as an effective means of connecting to customers, and leading that charge is QR codes by a seemingly unstoppable margin.

When using QR codes, customer safety and security should be priority No. 1, which makes CodeZ QR the premier option available for both security and functionality.
